About this book

Language: German

The diversity of primates in Africa is extraordinary, also amongst the Old World monkey groups of the guenons, baboons and colobus monkeys. But this unique variety is in great danger. By depletion of forests, the habitat of most primates, by hunting for bushmeat and through violent conflicts more and more species are brought to the brink of extinction. Protection measures are often insufficient or not enforced, and even in protected areas primates are hardly safe. In this book, the individual genera and species, their habitat and their conservation status are described according to IUCN guidelines.
