About this book

Language: Spanish

This is informative, but rigorous synthetic work, identifies more than 3500 taxa (species and subspecies) known today from the vascular flora of Valencia, Spain. It is aimed particularly at students and professionals in botany, but also intended to be useful to all kinds of naturalists who want to know the extensive plant heritage of Valencia.

For the determination of species, the authors have developed a series of dichotomous keys, accompanied by 2140 black and white illustrations. The work begins with an introduction to physical, bioclimatic and biogeographical aspects of the territory, and is complemented by a glossary of botanical terms that helps correct interpretation of the keys, which form the central body of the work.

The authors, professors of botany at the universities of Valencia and Alicante, have extensive experience in this type of publication, dating back to 1990 when they released their first book with keys to flora of Valencia, which, though under different titles, reached a fifth edition. They have improved and and expanded upon their knowledge to write this book. Along with the illustrations, drawn from the best European botanical works, this book will allow simple and accurate identification of the vascular plants of Valencia.
