About this book

Language: Bilingual in French and Portuguese

There are about 700 species of orchids in the Serra do Castelo (Espirito Santo, Brazil), mostly in the remains of the Mata Atlantica. This book aims to present them all, providing for each a taxonomic note, morphological description, and, usually, an iconography consisting of a botanical line drawing and a colour photograph, plus information on flowering time, geographical distribution, etc. This series consists of four volumes, and volume 4 is devoted to the sub-tribe Maxillarieae, containing 210 species belonging to 69 genera. As an introduction, the overall phylogeny of the tribe is discussed.
