Years in the making, this Chinese field guide has comprehensive coverage of the main island of Taiwan and offshore islands (Matsu, Lanyu, Kinmen etc). As well as the painted plates, non-Chinese readers can make use of highlighted key marks and size indicators. Each species and variant is labeled in English.
The second edition of this guide, the title now having been corrected from the original Field Guide of Wild Bird in Taiwan, fully illustrates 640 birds (an increase of three species over the first edition), with another 21 additional exotic species on two double plates. In the back there is a combined scientific/English name index. The second edition also features a waterproof plastic cover, inside of which is tucked a plastic magnifying lens.
