About this product

Did you know that the Robin is the UK’s favourite bird? With natural nesting opportunities rapidly declining why not encourage them to nest in your garden by providing a warm and dry nest box. This bird box is designed to provide a comfortable home for robins and other birds such as flycatchers, wagtails and wrens that prefer an open fronted nest box.

The box has a fixed roof and sides, an open front with generous lip and a slide-out floor, ventilation and drainage. Nest boxes also provide vital roosting spaces for birds during the cold winter months and the thick walls of the nest box provide better insulation and weather resistance whilst the overhanging roof sheds rain effectively ensuring the inhabitants stay dry.

The box can be installed on a tree or wall and should be placed two to four metres above ground. There should be a clear flight path to the entrance hole and the boxes should be placed so that the entrance is not exposed to strong sunlight or winds. Fixing to the wall or tree is easy with a concealed keyhole in the back of box (easily accessible to a screwdriver). Often this is the only fixing needed, but two further holes are provided at the base for use when necessary.

This nest box is constructed from precision cut FSC certified European softwood and has been treated with an environmentally friendly preservative which is kind to the birds but helps ensure a long lasting dry and comfortable nest box.
