About this book

After the series was prematurely halted in 2011 when the project's sponsor retracted their support, a new sponsor has stepped in and a fifth volume has been published in 2014.

For the present volume, chapters were written by 53 specialists from 21 countries. Of the 52 families dealt with in the fifth volume, 20 had not previously been recorded from the UAE. In total, 184 genera and 341 species are added to the known fauna of the country, with two genera and 45 species new to science being described.
