About this book

Language: French

The great botanists who gathered knowledge on the Drôme flora in France have left out an entire region, ranging roughly between Dieulefit, Vesc Bourdeaux and Félines-sur-Rimandoule, a region that after the early 2000s proved to be of great floristic interest, and not just for ferns. At the same time, the "founding fathers" of the botany of Drôme ignored the deep ravines which, in this sector, cut into Albian sandstone and offer several ferns protection against the rigors of the climate of the Provence.

Another environment escaped their investigations: the Turonian Cliffs of Nyonsais and the cliffs of Tricastin. These host (perhaps for millennia already?) very diverse populations of small saxicolous ferns. The first part of this book is intended to draw a picture of the fern flora of southern Drôme, presenting and illustrating all taxa currently listed. A choice was made to deal separately with the two taxa that have caused the most problems and provided the most data: a second part is devoted to Asplenium trichomaes and a third part to Polystichum aculeatum.
