About this book

Language: French

After a long period of enthusiasm for exotic plants, with such plants being given special places in parks and, contemporary currents of thought seem reluctant to promote these plants, rather giving priority to the protection of native flora and habitats.

The author, Yves-Marie Allain, after a long career during which he rubbed shoulders with supporters and opponents of floral mixtures, analyzes the problem of biodiversity by placing the plant world in geological time, rather than in the human time-frame. In order not to deny the exotic plant heritage, he suggests and recommends we combine the biological view and the cultural outlook.
