Series: Records of the Zoological Survey of India Occasional Papers Volume: 108
By: N Majumdar (Author)
From the introduction:
"The bird collection reported in this paper was made from the district of Koraput, Orissa, India, during February - March 1977 by a party of the Zoological Survey of India, under my leadership. A few specimens along with the field notes which were collected by Sri P.K. Das and Dr. C. B. Sri vastava of this department in 1972 are also included. The present study mainly involves taxonomy and zoogeography. However, notes on ecology and behaviour of birds have also been appended.
No comprehensive report on birds from Koraput district is known to science, except those of Ball (1877, 1878) who reported a few species from Jaipur (=Jeypore, Orissa State). The present account presented here may, therefore, be considered as the first ornithological report from this district."
