About this book

Language: English

From the introduction:

"Since the publication of Day’s (1878-1889) monumental work on Fishes of India, a large amount of additional scientific data have accumulated resulting in many changes in the names of fishes. Unfortunately most of the publications on Indian fishes since Day‘s time are widely scattered in literature and are not readily available to students and fishery workers in the different states of lndia; the present work is aimed at bringing a consolidated account of the fish fauna of Assam and all the neighbouring north-eastern states under one cover and it is hoped that it would prove a very useful faunal revision and reference to systematists and fishery biologists working in the north-eastern region of India in particular, and the whole of lndia in general."
