Orchids and their pollinators are comprehensively illustrated in Orchid Pollinators of Victoria with close to 1,200 images. The greatly expanded sections on bees and flies in this third edition demonstrate how amazing they are and that little was known about them. Getting images of these creatures in action meant learning about their behaviour first. Orchid Pollinators of Victoria shows clearly the importance of the diversity in insects and the role they play in highly evolved plants such as the orchids. Rather than being valued for the protection of habitats, they are constantly under attack by the human race with insecticides and by burning of the environment. Without the wasps, bees and flies we would not exist. The author hopes Orchid Pollinators of Victoria will help to give these creatures the appreciation they deserve, even if they may bite or sting.
