About this book

Language: Spanish

The second edition of this monograph from the Fauna Ibérica series, dedicated to the Ibero-Balearic orders of the Testudines and Squamata, has been revised and updated to show that there has been an increase in the knowledge of these groups in recent years. The work contains – other than an introduction on classification, morphology, natural history and study methods – information on 15 families, 34 genera and 60 species, and includes dichotomous identification keys. For each species morphology, skeleton, sexual dimorphism, genetic data, variability, geographical distribution, fossil record, habitat, activity, diet, predators, parasites, reproduction and development, structure and dynamics of populations and conservation are extensively described. The book is profusely illustrated and also contains a detailed review of nomenclature, updated distribution maps, a glossary and an extensive bibliography.
