About this book

Language: French

Until recently, the red lionfish (Pterois volitans) was unknown in the Antilles. Today, it is everywhere and it is not uncommon, when diving, to come cross his unmistakable silhouette. Its sting is more painful than dangerous, but it is best not to mess with him.

Fishermen, who regularly catch these fish in their nets, are rightly concerned about the arrival of this intruder that devours everything in its path. Even if it is edible and now figures prominently on restaurant menus, this animal is a formidable predator against which few can resist. For scientists, it is an unprecedented threat to the biodiversity of coral ecosystems in the region, and they do not hesitate to call the invasion a major ecological disaster. The only known cure for expansion is to hunt it, everywhere and by all means, as is already done in most states of the Caribbean Basin.
