El libro que tiene entre sus manos incluye información ornitológica y etnográfica sobre las aves que viven, permanente o temporalmente, en el sector occidental de la comarca de Gunayala. Ha sido elabora don el fin de promover el conocimento científico sobre las aves y actividades turísticas - responsables y sostenibles- entorno a su observación.

Con el fin de facilitar este acercamiento a la avifauna de Gunayala, por un lado, el libro incluye una lista (check-list) de las especies identificadas en la zona del corregimiento 1 de la comorca, con sus nombres científicos y populares (en español, dulegaya e inglés). Por el otro, esta publicación cuenta con cuatro relatos sobre la presencia cultural de las aves en mitos y rituales, los criterios que marcan las etnoclasificaciones y sus múltiples usos locales.
