About this book

Language: Valencian

A very complete work, to be published in five volumes. This is a compendium of what is known about the wild plants of Valencia, Spain. It provides comprehensive information on more than 3000 species, while acting as a tool to identify all species. The book begins with an introduction to the history of exploration of the vascular flora in Valencia, then moves on to a chapter describing the physical geography and the types of plant communities of the territory studied. Then follows the main part of the work, the texts for all species which includes a colour photograph, a detailed description of all the parts, their preferentially occupied habitats, and a UTM atlas map depicting their distribution. Specific identification keys at the beginning of each genus are available.

Volume 1 introduces the series with some general chapters on the botanical history of the region, and details on the region and its geobotanical aspects. It then continues and covers the pteridophytes, gymnosperms, and the first set of families of angiosperms, alphabetically covering the families Acanthaceae to Balsellaceae.
