About this book

Language: Italian

The flora of Sardinia is characterized by its diversity compared to other regions of Italy and the Mediterranean. It is an ancient flora, which evolved on the spot, in part distinct and the rest common to that of the neighboring island of Corsica. This fifth volume of the Flora dell'Isola di Sardegna continues the work that intends to make an inventory of the species so far discovered. At the end, the Flora has the necessary nomenclatural references, the morphological and biological chorology, and other essential information on the ecology of the species. The analytical keys and the rich iconography aim to make the recognition of species easier. The book is a compendium of the many published studies on the flora of the island and of original data collected by the author in the field and from materials stored in herbaria. In general, the information is collected in the taxonomic scheme in his time (1977-1991) followed by researchers from the Universities of Florence and Sassari for the endemic species of Sardinia.

Volume 5 covers the following groups: Caprifoliaceae, Adoxaceae, Valerianaceae, Dipsacaceae, Asteraceae, Dioscoreaceae, Trilliaceae, Smilacaceae, Convallariaceae, Asparagaceae, Ruscaceae, Agavaceae, Asphodelaceae, Hemerocallidaceae, Anthericaceae, Aphyllanthaceae, Hyacinthaceae, Alliaceae, Amaryllidaceae, Colchicaceae, Liliaceae, Iridaceae, and Orchidaceae.
