About this book

Agrodiaetus is one of the most fascinating butterfly groups found in the Palearctic region. Its extraordinary richness of species, often restricted to small and remote mountain areas, has stimulated many lepidopterists since the second half of the nineteenth century. The more new taxa were discovered, the more any attempt of systematic arrangement based on morphological characters appeared unsatisfactory. The aim of this book is to summarize the current knowledge about Agrodiaetus, putting together the existing information that is huge and scattered through many different sources. This book will not at all be the final word about this subject. Many questions and problems are still waiting for an answer and many new taxa will certainly be discovered in the future.
