About this book

Language: German

This is the first volume of what is planned to be a four-volume opus – the most comprehensive work on the bird life in this German state that has ever been published. It is also a milestone regional avifauna in Germany.

Volume 1 is a comprehensive introduction to the natural environment, the methodology and the bird communities. An extensive chapter is devoted to the history of the bird research in Rhineland-Palatinate. What makes this volume especially valuable are the inclusion of, amongst others, the analysis of the Waterbird Census, the regular observations of bird migration, bird ringing and other monitoring programs. Independent chapters dealing with endangered breeding birds (incl. Red List) and anthropogenic influences complete the work.
