About this book

Language: German, with vernacular names in English, German, and Danish

In the second breeding bird atlas the results of mapping efforts during the years 2005-2009, which were carried out for the national Atlas Deutscher Brutvogelarten, are evaluated in detail at the level of the province of Schleswig-Holstein. In the multi-year field work about 150 volunteers have collected comprehensive information on over 200 species of breeding birds.

In addition to current distribution maps of each species, changes since the first mapping project (1985-1994) are presented. In numerous photos habitats and species are presented, while tables and charts provide an overview of population trends and population densities.

Detailed descriptions of occurrence, habitat, population and development, and risk and protection are given again in the texts, which were developed by Bernd Koop and Rolf K. Berndt, in collaboration with numerous Schleswig-Holstein ornithologists.
