About this book

Language: Trilingual in English, Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole

With the occupation of the Cape Verde islands, which began nearly 550 years ago, a transformation of the islands has also been triggered. So many animals and plants have been introduced, that descibing the virgin state of the islands with some accuracy has become difficult. Santiago, the largest island, has been known as a laboratory of racial miscegenation but also the introduction and passage of animal and plant species from Europe, India, and Africa en route to Central and South America. The impact of human presence on the seabed is different, having been exploited and consequently having seen a reduction of its potential.
