About this book

Language: Italian

This volume represents a "snapshot" of the current avifauna in Bergamo, a province in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy, which is the results of 6 years of work by 136 ornithologists and enthusiasts who have made collecting surveys in the area, put in thousands of hours of observation, collected over 24,000 data points relating to 152 species. A thorough revision of the data collected then allowed an accurate analysis. Particular attention was paid to the conservation aspects of individual species by careful assessment of threats and protection measures.

This volume is a continuation of the rich ornithological tradition of Bergamo, emphasizing the historical and current significance and, to some extent, by rehabilitates the province, since, unfortunately, many people have considered the many bird species on its territory as coveted components of traditional dishes!

Since 2000, the Gruppo Ornitologico Bergamasco carries out activities aimed at increasing scientific knowledge and the protection of birds and the natural environment, and taking care of informational aspects, including support of educational activities and awareness on environmental issues promoted by the Caffi Museum.
