The Zhejiang Environmental Monitoring Center in China has been undertaking a major biological monitoring of drinking water sources since 2006, and gradually uncovered the algal community structure and its variation in order to develop environment management procedures of drinking water sources and provided a scientific basis for algal bloom control measures. In the process a large collection of images have been gathered, in preparation for an atlas of the province's common freshwater algae. This book is a portfolio and contains members of 8 orders, 12 classes, 51 families, and 127 genera.

浙 江省环境监测中心自2006年开展了全省主要饮用水水源地生物监测工作，逐步掌握了藻类群落结构及变化特征，为饮用水水源地的环境管理及藻类水华防控措施 的制定提供了科学依据。2008年以来，浙江省环境监测中心组织相关技术人员开展了全省常见淡水藻类图集的编制工作，对2006年以来全省主要饮用水水源 地的藻类样品进行了鉴定，拍摄藻类图片近万张，并对图片进行了筛选和后期图像处理，编制了《浙江省主要常见淡水藻类图集(饮用水水源)》。图集中包括浙江 省常见淡水藻类特征、藻类图片等内容，最终共收录了藻类8门12纲28目51科127属。
