About this book

Language: French with vernacular names in English, German and Italian

This atlas provides a reference on the state of knowledge for all 43 native species of reptiles and amphibians of the Rhône-Alpes, France (nearly three quarters of the species of continental France).

A synthesis of over 160,000 data points collected until 2014, this book includes, besides species monographs, a presentation of Rhône-Alpes herpetology and conservation measures of these species. Maps of potential distributions, based on thorough analysis and using the most modern modeling tools, are included in the book. The writing was done collectively by the members of the Groupe Herpétologique Rhône-Alpes, also involving various universities and researchers in this field, who were overseen by a team of the LPO.

Richly illustrated with photographs (for the most part original and from our area), distribution maps and charts, the book is aimed at both herpetologists, and staff working in the environment or with the public.
