About this book

Language: German

After the deposits in the granite areas of Triberg and Eisenbach on the eastern edge of the Central Black Forest, which were presented in volume 2, volume 3 deals with deposits and mineralizations that are to be found in the areas adjoining to the west and south-west, mainly in areas rich in gneiss, a common type of rock, so-called central black forest gneiss deposits.

Volume 3 covers well-known and important sedimentary and mineral deposits such as the Wildschapbach Valley, the Wenzel Mine, the Artenberg and Hechtsberg Quarries, the Silberbrünn Mine and the Michael Pit in the Weiler. These have become known amongst others by the fact that the silver minerals schapbachite and dyskrasite, the secondary phosphates haigerachite and gengenbachite, as well as the three secondary uranium minerals, hillit, hallimondite and widenmannite, have their type localities here. This volume also presents the rarest mineral species in colourful pictures. In addition, it is, of course, amply illustrated by photos of selected hand stages and micromounts from all important mineralizations.
