About this book

Language: Russian

The book provides a comprehensive assessment of the evolution of the glacial mountain systems of Kazakhstan on the basis of regional monitoring carried out by means of remote sensing methods – both aerial and satellite imagery. This study provides information on the spatial and temporal variability of size, weight and balance of glaciers due to climate change in the second half of the XX-XXI centuries. For all ice systems the author developed a method to measure the magnitude of glacial runoff and its role in the total river flow under conditions of deglaciation. On the basis of this method the long-term forecast of glaciated mountains in the country is given until the end of the XXI century.

The book is intended for specialists in the field of glaciology, hydrology, meteorology, ecology, physical geography, students, undergraduates and doctoral geographical specialties of higher educational institutions, and also to all those who are interested in the nature of the mountains of Kazakhstan.
