The national seminar on Plant Resource Management and Conservation Strategies in N.E. Region organised by the Department of Botany, Cotton College, Guwahati-1, was held on the 18th and 19th of February, 2011 at A.C. Dutta Bhavan, Botany Department, Cotton College. It attracted over 150 academicians, research scholars, scientists, and subject experts of different parts of India.

The two-day long seminar was split into three technical sessions where 130 scientific papers were presented. The papers were categorized into seven sub-themes namely i) Improvement of plant resources in the NE Region ii) Biodiversity iii) Soil and environment iv) In-vitro studies of economically viable plants v) Stress physiology vi) Sustainability vii) Conservation and bioremediation. The recommendations of the seminar were published in the leading news papers subsequently. As a follow up the proceedings of the seminar including 57 full scientific papers are presented here.
