About this book

Language: Russian

This book contains 800 colour photographs of seeds of the vascular plants of North Asia, captured with a digital microscope, which are published here for the first time. The basis for the photographic tables were the seeds of 773 species that are stored in the collection of seeds and fruits of the Botany Laboratory of the Institute of Biological Problems of the North FEB RAS. Megakarpii of 27 species of the family Apiaceae are illustrated by two photographs for each species (top and bottom). Seeds are alphabetically ordered by species names. Information is included about the distribution of the species in North Asia, as well as outside. All photos were taken against the background of a scale bar allowing the reader to get an idea of the average size of the seeds. Colour reproduction of the photos helps evaluate the colour of the seeds. This atlas, showing the morphology of the seeds, can be used for diagnostic purposes of species and genera of the seed. This publication will be of interest to a wide range of professionals: botanists of different profiles, florists, taxonomists, staff of botanic gardens, landscapers, staff of environmental organizations, as well as zoologists, archaeologists, palaeobotanists, ecologists and others.
