Presents papers from the International Congress on Nature Management and Sustainable Development held at the University of Groningen, 1988. At this conference, 58 experts in a variety of disciplines from 20 countries studied and elaborated on one of the crucial problems faced by man: the worldwide relationship between the management of nature and the realization of sustainable development, prosperity and welfare. Nine topics were covered: Management of; the Atmosphere; Tropical Forests; European Forests; Mountain Forests in the Third World; Protected Areas; Grasslands and Desertification Control in Africa; Wetlands; Trans-Boundary Rivers; and the Seas.
