About this book

This volume contains accounts of the reproductive biology and early life history of 24 species representing 11 families of fishes that occur in the Ohio River drainage. It provides a compilation of previously published information, original data, and illustrations. New noteworthy information is provided for shovelnose sturgeon Scaphirhynchus platorhynchus, bowfin Amia calva, skipjack herring Alosa chrysochloris, and central mudminnow Umbra limi. With the exception of alligator gar Atractosteus spatula (Wiley 1976) and rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss (Smith and Stearley 1989), common and scientific names follow AFS Special Publication Number 12 (1980).
