Revised and updated edition of the author's classic 1978 work Tiger! The Story of the Indian Tiger, which did so much to increase our awareness of the plight of the tiger. It was Sankhala who pleaded with the IUCN in 1969 to have the tiger included in the Red Data Book, as well as persuading Indira Gandhi to ban tiger hunting in India soon after. Thus he is uniquely qualified to provide, as he does here, a comprehensive natural history of the tiger, an update on Project Tiger, its status and success, and also a breakdown of the current threats the species faces.
