A Report of the IUCN/SSC African Elephant Specialist Group, focusing on an analysis of the illegal killing of elephants, a review of national legislation on elephants and ivory, and an evaluation of current levels of illegal trade in, and stockpiling of, ivory. The study was primarily carried out in nine target countries, and the situation in 16 other states was also broadly examined.
