This book brings together the work of leading practitioners in Europe and includes examples characteristic of today's landscape design. The first part of the book addresses the problem of definitions and usages, how we experience the environment, and its links with art and design. The second part examines the importance of nature in design, the third part stresses the importance of urban open spaces, and the final part examines those landscapes which have an obvious resonance arising from their association with religion, death, history and art.
