About this book

This is a collection of extracts and full texts of papers presented at a two-day workshop hosted by Landcare Research at Ilam, Christchurch, New Zealand, in February 1995. The objectives of the workshop were to review current and future work in the field of ecological restoration; to identify significant gaps in scientific knowledge of the subject; to examine social and cultural issues that need to be addressed; to understand management needs; and to recommend directions for new work and means of establishing communications links. A colour map entitled "Christchurch City: Fremework for Sustainable New Garden City and Greenway" and a photo essay of the workshop field excursion are included in the book.
