The Endogonales, often referred to as Pea Truffles, are small fungi producing their fruiting bodies beneath the ground. In recent years it has become apparent that many of them form mycorrhizas with crop and other plants, profoundly affecting nutrition, and possibly other aspects of growth. This world-wide revision recognises nine genera, and provides keys to, and descriptions of, both the genera and the species.
