About this book

This flora is an attempt to put together descriptions of all polypores so far registered in the continental United States and Canada. The authors have adopted a moderate generic concept although those used to Overholts' and Lowe's circumscription of large collective genera will find that the number has increased considerably. The species have been described in a standardized style so it should be easy to compare different species and rather easy to find the pertinent information. The genera and species have been placed alphabetically without regard to relationship as this will make the flora easy to use. The taxonomy is treated in a separate chapter.
