In Britain the Elateroidea is represented by three families, and although some of the species are extremely common, in a few cases to the extent that they are recognised crop pests, a high proportion are genuinely scarce with precise habitat requirements and restricted distributions. The distribution maps and vice-county tables in this atlas correct, update and replace those in previous atlases.
