About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and German

This guide presents all known plates catfish species and varieties (including mutations, hybrids, breeds, and so far unknown species – the so-called C-numbers) in photographs. The genera Aspidoras, Brochis, Corydoras, Callichthys, Dianema and Hoplosternum are taken into consideration. Species that are not known alive until now, are portrayed in black-and-white drawings; even species that have never been published are illustrated by "phantom pictures" based on the original scientific descriptions. So, if ever one of these fish should end up in your tanks, you can – at least theoretically – classify it. All the fish are easy to identify using the simple code number system. The clearly arranged symbol-information accompanying each of the 650 photographs give a good overview of the origin, care instructions and other characteristics of each featured species.
