About this book

Language: German

The Illustrierte Flora von Mitteleuropa that was begun by Dr Gustav Hegi in 1906, has established itself as the definitive reference work and has become a household name in the professional world. The versatility of the subject areas dealt with, the very precise yet artistic execution of the illustrations, the completeness of the species descriptions and identification keys as well as the sometimes completely new systematic processing contributed significantly to its success.

In the second edition, not only new sites, new species and new varieties, but also a large number of new, general botanical research results were taken into account. All images – photographs, maps, etc. – reflect the latest research. The frame, which in the first edition was already much wider than in other floristic works, has been significantly expanded. A number of internationally outstanding scientists ensured that the work was brought up to date with the latest research.

Volume 6, part 4 is the fourth to deal with dicotyledons and covers the genera Matricaria, Chrysanthemum, Cotula, Artemisia, Tussilago, Petasites, Homogyne, Erechthites, Arnica, Doronicum, Senecio, Ligularia, Calendula, Echinops, Xeranthemum, Carlina, Arctium (Lappa), Saussurea, Jurinea, Carduus, Cirsium, Silybum, Onopordon, Serratula, Crupina, Rhaponticum, Centaurea, Carthamus, Cichorium, Lapsana, Aposeris, Arnoseris, Hypochoeris, Leontodon, Picris, Tragopogon, Scorzonera, Podospermum, Chondrilla, Willemetia, Taraxacum, Cicerbita (Mulgedium), Sonchus, Mycelis, Lactuca, Crepis, Prenanthes, and Hieracium.
