A wide range of technological and scientific fields is covered by this dictionary. It presents terminology in areas ranging from mechanical engineering via coal and steel, transport and transportation technology, and construction engineering, through to surveying and information technology and electronics. The basic knowledge of natural sciences has been incorporated to facilitate the comprehension of technical processes. The dictionary contains approximately 57,000 headwords assembling the basic lexical items of different branches combined with a reasonable depth in specific subjects. The dictionary addresses users/experts in sciences and technologies, translators/interpreters of language for special purposes (LSP), terminologists and technical writers. Actual advantages of the dictionary are given in those fields depending on current events as, for example, data processing and automotive engineering. Experts in technological and scientific fields and linguists with technological backgrounds cooperated in the preparation of the dictionary. European Portuguese forms the basis of the edited material - a clear advantage for its use in the European Union. Nevertheless, the dictionary also satisfies the requirements of Brazilian Portuguese.
