About this book

The report on this survey has been compiled jointly by three UNEP units - the International Environmental Technology Centre, the UNEP Industry and Environment and INFOTERRA. The report presents the results of a survey which took place over the years 1994 to 1996. This survey identified and characterized existing and planned EST information systems and sources worldwide. The report identifies 84 such information systems and characterizes them with respect to the technologies covered, information provided and the cost and presentation of such information. The survey results may help government decision-makers, municipalities and industry in adopting technological solutions to mitigate problems of air and water pollution as well as waste management.
