About this book

Language: Italian with English summaries

This study concentrates on the Pselaphid beetles of Sicily, based on material collected by different european museum collections and consisting of about 9000 specimens, collected during 15 years of field work. Now the number of species and subspecies from the island has reached 82 belonging to 32 genera. This includes 7 new genera and fourteen species that have been found for the first time. A key of all tribes, genera and species are given. For each genus a schematic figure illustrates the most important diagnostic characters. For each species a complete bibliography and list of synonyms is given as well as geographic distribution. A map with U.T.M. coordinates, showing every species distribution in Sicily and brief ecological notes and chorological category to which each belongs is included. Lastly, the composition and biogeography of the Pselaphid fauna of Sicily are discussed.
