About this book

This title bridges the subjects of toxicology and environmental chemistry and adopts a unique approach that follows chemicals on a molecular level, from the environment through the different uptake mechanisms into the body. Along the way, it explains the different routes of degradation and metabolism of the different classes of chemicals, linking general chemical properties to their toxicological equivalents.

All the chapters have been thoroughly updated and the contents significantly expanded, including new chapters on modern pesticides, food chemicals and solvents, as well as a chapter discussing the difficulties of accurate measurements of carcinogenesis in man.
