About this book

Language: Dutch

This is an excellent guide to all of the approximately 100 common mosses in the Netherlands. Most species can be identified with either the naked eye or a good magnifying glass. The identification keys are therefore based mainly on field characteristics. For each species, information is provided on landscape type (heathland, woods, sand drifts) and environment (acidic, moist). In order to identify mosses, these factors, combined with contexts (where they grow--on soil, trees, rocks, or in water) are essential. Where certain species may be easily confused with others, this is clearly indicated. The keys are detailed with clear drawings; the guide has wonderful colour photographs throughout.
