About this book

The 30th International Geological Congress was held in Beijing, China in August 1997. Leading scientists convened to present their findings and views to the international geological research community. Volume 9 of 26 focuses on energy and mineral resources for the 21st century, the geology of mineral deposits and mineral economics. All articles in the proceedings have been refereed and keynote papers have been included in Volume 1. These proceedings aim to present a view of contemporary geology and should be of interest to researchers in the geological sciences.

Contents

Part 1 Energy and mineral resources for the 21st century: genesis of two contrasting metallogenic provinces in the back-arc basins of Hokkaido, Japan, S. Ishihara and H. Matsueda; tectonics and evolution of pre-Cambrian metallogenetic province in China, Pei Rongfu et al; techno-economic evaluation on mineral resources, Jia Zhixi; preliminary study of metallogenic hysteresis - on the metallogenic evolution of China, Ye Jinhua and Mei Yanxiong. Part 2 Geology of mineral deposits: tectono-stratigraphic terrane analysis and metallization in Yunnan, China, Ren Zhiji; the metasomatic hydrothermal metallogeny, Ji Kejian et al; geologic controls of sandstone-hosted Zn-Pb-(Sr) mineralization, Jinding deposit, Yunnan province, China - a new environment for sediment-hosted Zn-Pb deposits, Ning Li and J.R.
