Information on this map has been taken from 1:63 360 and 1:50 000 maps of the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland, 1:100 000 maps of the Geological Survey of Ireland and from published papers by various authors.
The map of Donegal is essentially the same as that compiled by W S Pitcher for the first edition of tiff this sheet (1977) with amendments (1996) by G I Alsop (University of St Andrews) and D H W Hutton (University (Of Birmingham). Unpublished information on the Lower Palaeozoic rocks was supupplieced by by T B Anderson and P Dalzell, and on Caledonian intrusives by I G M< Meighghan and J C Neeson (The Queen's University of Belfast) and W E Stephens (University of St Andrews).
Topography based upon Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland maps, dated 1996. The representation on this map of a road, track or path is no evidence of the existence of a right of way. Heights are in metres.
