Papers from the second Osteoarchaeological Research Group meeting concerned with a variety of different computer analyses. Many of the papers also discuss their considerable value for other artefact assemblages. The papers are: the application of 'pie-slice', an extended abstract of his paper on the use of this package for the analysis of animal bone assemblages (Clive Orton); release and recapture methods, for estimating the original population size from which a group is derived (Nick Winder); a method for fast data entry (Heather Gill-Robinson); calculating bio-distance using dental morphology, a technique which has been used to compare Romano-British and Anglo-Saxon populations (Jeff Lloyd-Jones); Stephen Lewis makes three contributions on the use of statistical methods in biology including a method for easy comparison of the results of multivalate analysis; a statistical method for determining the degree to which environmental factors have influenced sexual diomorphism; and a method for analyysing complex biological shapes; the final paper introduces useful introductory package for recording an assemblage.
