Volume 24 covers the family Aquifoliaceae, which is a cosmopolitan family with four genera and some 400 species. There is only one genus found in South America, Ilex, and in Paraguay this family is represented by just six species, I. affinis, I. brasiliensis, I. brevicuspis, I. dumosa, I. paraguariensis, and I. theezans. Keys for both male and female specimens of Ilex are included.
