Southern Africa is exceptionally rich in plant diversity, with more than 10% (30,000 species) of flowering plants occurring in a mere 2.5% of the world's land surface area. This region also has a great cultural diversity, with many people still using a wide variety of plants in their daily lives. This book gives a broad overview of indigenous plant use and is the first fully illustrated ethnobotanical guide for Southern Africa. Traditional and contemporary uses of more than 650 plants are described and illustrated with more than 530 photographs.
