There are two major peat swamp areas in the state of Selangor, Malaysia, the North Selangor Peat Swamp Forest (NSPSF) and the Kuala Langat Peat Swamp Forest (KLPSF). The NSPSF is a large area lying principally between Sungal Bernam and Sungai Selangor in the north of the state. The main objective of this survey was a sampling demonstration, and to gain experience at using various sampling methods. A total of 76 species, belonging to 24 families, were collected during the intensive sampling survey. The survey indicated a substantial difference between the fish association at the blackwater and non-blackwater sites.
