About this book

Language: English, also available in Spanish

Apart from those who live in the native home of Leucaena in Mexico and Central America and a small number of specialists, few are fully aware of the diversity of species which exists within Leucaena. There are 22 recognised species. They span 40 degrees of latitude and 2500 m in altitude and grow under varied climatic and soil conditions. The aim of this book is to document what is known about diversity within Leucaena and present it as a whole to a wider audience. It draws on the substantial programme of research on the systematics and genetic resources of Leucaena carried out at OFI, and also attempts to synthesize data from other research. An invaluable manual for foresters, conservationists and rural development agencies.
